Columbia Records is an American record label founded in 1888.
Columbia is the oldest surviving brand name in pre-recorded sound, being the first record company to produce pre-recorded records as opposed to blank cylinders. Columbia Records went on to release records by an array of notable singers, instrumentalists and groups. Today it is a premier subsidiary label of Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Inc.

Columbia first signed the Jonas Brothers as an act in early 2005 and produced one record (It's About Time) that debuted August 8, 2006. According to the band's manager, it was only a "limited release" of 50,000 copies. Because Sony was not interested in further promoting the band, the Jonas Brothers then considered switching labels.

Because of poor record sales the band was ultimately dropped by Columbia Records in early 2007.
